‘American Wine & Spirits’ magazine, read by over 200,000 professionals and wine lovers all over the world has included 2 Greek wines in its annual list of the top 100 wineries.
These included Domaine Gerovassiliou, (of the Gerovassiliou family) which have been involved in winemaking since 1981 and is located a few kilometres outside of Thessaloniki in Northern Greece. The winery has won several awards in the past, has a wide selection of both red and white and also operates a wine museum on the vineyard.
The second winery, Gaia Wines hails from the island of Santorini and was founded in 1994 by Yiannis Paraskevopoulos (Agriculturalist and PhD in Enology from the University of Bordeaux II) and Leon Karatsalos (Agriculturalist). As most wines from Santorini, Gaia is well known for its white wine of the ‘Assyrtiko’ variety, but also produce great reds.
