Autumn is coming

Now that Greek autumn is officially approaching, I find myself re-thinking places I want to go out and eat or drink. This normally means a move away from beach suburbs to places closer to Athens that have an outdoor area just in case the weather still holds or trying out new restaurants that have opened up. Below are my top 3 Autumn choices for Athens:

Vasilainas

A classic hang-out of Piraeus that has been in the same building since 1920, is now moving to the former ‘Alatsi’ in the center of Athens, close to the Hilton hotel and we can’t wait to see the new changes! With both fish and meat dishes and great value for money, it is perfect if you can’t decide whether you want to continue eating fish or move onto more winter meaty dishes.

Cookoovaya

This team of 5 chefs create a seasonal menu so you always eat fresh and according to season (obliterating my need to be by the sea in summer or in Athens in the winter). The kitchen continually evolves and makes you want to go back and try their fresh finds, cooked either in their wooden oven, on charcoal, or even sample some raw and cold appetizers. There is both an indoor and outdoor area available, making this a perfect place for a transitional night out.

Open daily from 13.00 pm to 01.00 am, reservations at: 210 7235 005, Xatzigianni Mexi 2A, Athens.

The Clumsies

One of our favourites and quite recently voted amongst the top ranking bars of the world, in addition to scrumptious drinks, they have also added a delicious brunch to their menu, every Saturday and Sunday from 11.00 am to 18.00 pm. Not that we needed an excuse to go there more often (or stay there longer).
